Get the app / Restore purchases

Check the App Store listing, then choose your device guide

The App Store is the only place to get Shadowrocket. On the product page, verify the app name, developer, and App ID, then check the price shown in your storefront. Device compatibility, system requirements, and purchase availability are all subject to the App Store listing.

If the button shows Purchased or a cloud icon, first make sure you’re signed in with the original purchasing account, then follow the App Store prompts. Purchase history lets you restore the app; your existing server details, subscriptions, and configuration files must be checked separately. Reinstalling the app does not restore its configuration.

Use Config to control where each request goes

Global Routing in Home sets the overall handling mode. Config mode uses the rules in the current configuration; Proxy mode routes applicable requests through the selected proxy; Direct mode connects directly. To route traffic by domain or address, select Config, then check which file is active in Config. Rules are matched in configuration order; narrower exceptions usually go before broader rules, with FINAL at the end for requests that don’t match earlier rules. After making changes, retest the same destination so you can tell whether the routing mode or the rules made a difference.

Rules are checked from top to bottom; matching stops at the first hit. FINAL catches anything unmatched.

Before choosing a feature, identify what you need to change. Switch servers to change the connection destination, update a subscription to refresh the server list, or switch configurations to change rules and related settings. These are separate actions; you don’t need to reimport all servers just to adjust one domain rule.

Data and iCloud sync have separate roles too. Data lets you review traffic records, but doesn’t replace testing access to a destination. iCloud sync keeps supported data across devices, but doesn’t replace checking which server and configuration are currently selected. Assess connection results using both actual requests and diagnostic records. See the full feature list in the feature guide.

Quick start / Three-step overview

First connection with an existing setup: the right order

Add Server: Import existing details

First, have your own subscription URL, server share link, or complete connection details ready. In Home, open Add Server and choose Subscribe, Scan QR Code, or manual entry based on what you have. A QR code is just a way to share information; after scanning, verify Type, Host, Port, and authentication fields. Once imported, confirm the entry appears in SERVER and can be selected.

If the list is empty, go back and check the import details before turning on the connection. A single share link and a subscription URL use different import options; using the wrong one may not produce the expected list. For manual entry, keep the original details handy to compare each field, and check spaces, ports, and capitalization.

Global Routing: Choose how traffic is handled

After selecting a server, check Global Routing. Config mode depends on the active configuration file; Proxy and Direct modes handle traffic differently overall. If you’re setting up rule-based routing for the first time, confirm that the expected file is selected in Config, then return to Home to check the mode. This avoids a mismatch where the server is right but the routing setup isn’t.

Proxy doesn’t mean every system request necessarily takes the same route; app settings and system network behavior also play a part. For testing, choose a specific destination and check the diagnostic records. If you’re troubleshooting a single rule, leave everything else unchanged and compare the results before and after the edit.

Home: Turn on the connection and test a request

When you turn on the connection, the system may ask to add a VPN configuration. This permission creates a network configuration on your device; it does not replace server authentication. Review the prompt and follow the system instructions, then return to Home to check the status. Next, run Connectivity Test and visit the destination you actually need, checking the test and browsing results separately.

If the test gets a response but the page still won’t load, note the destination and current network, then check DNS and rules. If the connection can’t be established at all, first recheck the server details, authentication, and system permissions. Change one item at a time and rerun the same test to identify what affected the result.

App verification / Purchase details

Verify the app and purchase history using the listing

Buying the client ≠ buying a service plan

The purchase covers use of the Shadowrocket client. This site does not provide, sell, or recommend servers or subscriptions. The steps below assume you already have your own subscription or server details.

Developer and App ID

The developer on the App Store listing should be Shadow Launch Technology Limited, and the App ID in the product URL should be 932747118. Search results may show similar names, so don’t rely on the word “Shadowrocket” alone. Open the product page and verify the developer, the ID in the URL, and the official icon together; all three should match.

The official icon has a white background and blue-violet outline, matching the official icon in this site’s header. Use it as an additional visual check, not as a substitute for verifying the developer and App ID. Once verified, you can purchase from the product page; manage future updates through the App Store.

Price and one-time purchase

Shadowrocket is a closed-source commercial app. The US storefront price is about $2.99, paid once; other storefronts show local currencies, and the final amount is shown on the purchase confirmation screen. A one-time purchase describes how the app is paid for; it does not include server access, network connections, or third-party services.

The app can read connection details, but that doesn’t mean any are already available. Have your own valid configuration ready before first use. If authentication fails after import, check that your existing details are still valid. Buying the app again won’t fix server authentication or an expired subscription.

Using your purchase on two devices and restoring it

iPhone and iPad may share a purchase where the App Store listing specifies universal purchase; availability is subject to the listing. When switching devices or reinstalling, first check that you’re signed into the original purchasing account. Then find Shadowrocket in your purchased items and follow the App Store’s restore steps.

App purchase history and local configuration are separate. After restoring the app, check that your existing servers, subscriptions, and configuration files are still available. If you use sync, verify it has finished and check the current selection again; matching file names alone don’t guarantee identical connection settings.

Store availability and system requirements

App Store product availability, pricing currency, and purchase status can vary by storefront. If you can’t find the app, use the product link on this page to check the App Store listing, then review your account’s storefront and device compatibility. System requirements are always subject to the App Store listing; don’t rely on system details from older guides.

The App Store handles purchase, installation, and updates; the client reads configuration and handles connections. Troubleshoot these processes separately. If you can’t purchase the app, check the App Store prompt. If the app opens but requests fail, check the settings, permissions, and network. For details on restoring a purchase, read Restore purchases.

Keep a recoverable configuration before connecting

Before changing rules or importing a new configuration, keep a copy of what currently works and note the selected server, Global Routing mode, and configuration file. Returning to a known starting point makes it easier to isolate problems than changing several settings at once. If diagnostic records contain real server addresses, subscription credentials, or authentication details, remove them before sharing.

This page explains the order of operations; it doesn’t replace your server’s specific settings. Use your own server details to determine which authentication and transport fields a protocol needs, and your configuration goals to decide how a domain should be routed. For purchase, permission, import, or rule issues, see Frequently Asked Questions for the relevant step rather than treating different types of problems as one.
